Bordeaux Varietal Wines from Renowned Winemaking Regions

We are excited to include two extraordinary Sonoma County wines in your April Vigneron Collection shipment: the 2012 Le Coeur Tannat and 2021 Anakota Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2012 Le Coeur is a passion project of Vigneron Pierre Seillan, and the manifestation of his desire to produce an elegant expression of the French variety Tannat in Sonoma County. Crafted by acclaimed father-daughter winemaking duo Pierre and Hélène Seillan, the 2021 Anakota Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is the essence of high elevation Knights Valley winemaking. We hope you enjoy these two wines!

Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, 2012

French for ‘the heart,’ Le Coeur is a fitting homage to a grape variety that, like Pierre himself, is native to the rugged Gascon country of southwestern France. This robust and inky wine is produced from 100% Tannat, planted high on the slopes of Alexander Valley in northern Sonoma County. Pierre began cultivating Tannat here after he observed the similarities between this terroir and the foothills of the Pyrenees, where this historic variety flourishes. With Le Coeur, Pierre strives to showcase the elegance, finesse, and complexity that Tannat can express when meticulously farmed and vinified.

Knights Valley, Sonoma County, 2021

Sourced from our certified sustainable estate vineyards, the Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon embodies Sonoma County’s rustic spirit. Our vineyards follow the subtle contours of the earth, weaving around cold mountain streams and through native fir and oak forests, climbing up the southwest-facing slopes of Mount St. Helena. Here, the well-draining volcanic soils and the extreme temperature shifts from morning to evening produce a well-balanced Cabernet Sauvignon with breathtaking purity of fruit. This wine has a generosity that makes it approachable in its youth, with the complexity and structure to mature gracefully for an additional 15 years in your cellar.
