As the excitement of harvest approaches, we are thrilled to present your September Vigneron Collection shipment. Meticulously crafted by Vigneron Pierre Seillan, the powerful 2022 Anakota Helena Dakota Cabernet Sauvignon and the elegant 2022 Tenuta di Arceno Il Fauno IGT are perfect for cooler Spring weather. Guided by his micro-cru philosophy, and drawing on more than 50 years of experience, Pierre has crafted each of these wines to express an extraordinary sense-of-place imparted by the terroirs of Knights Valley and Tuscany.
Knights Valley, Sonoma County, 2022
The Anakota Helena Montana vineyard is planted to volcanic soils at an elevation of 950ft, on the rugged flanks of Mount St. Helena above Knights Valley. Vigneron Pierre Seillan interprets this unique site as being composed of many small blocks or micro-crus, according to soil, climate, exposure, and elevation, and vinifies them separately so that each may express its own distinctive voice. The 2022 Helena Dakota powerful and opulent, with flavors of blackberry liqueur, and bittersweet chocolate, balanced by notes of fresh flowers, subtle baking spices, and iron minerality.
Toscana, Italy 2022
Across the globe in Tuscany, Pierre and Winemaker Lawrence Cronin have crafted the same philosophy at Tenuta di Arceno. The 2022 Tenuta di Arceno Il Fauno is sourced from vineyard blocks located in the lower section of the estate, in a warmer, exposed subsection that ripens early and produces wines that tend to be voluptuous and lush. The nose exudes ripe black cherries, earthy vanilla bean, and cedar. Every year, Pierre and Lawrence handcraft each blend from different micro-crus, giving depth and architecture to wine.
2022 Anakota Helena Dakota Cabernet Sauvignon
97 Points
“A deeper, saturated purple color, the 2021 Helena Dakota Vineyard is sourced from a more insulated and protected site with a lower elevation compared to the Helena Montana Vineyard, featuring alluvial clay soils, and is also entirely Cabernet Sauvignon. It offers resinous and deeper notes of blackcurrants, pressed sage, pencil lead, menthol, and floral perfume. The palate is full-bodied and broad-shouldered, with great energy driven by a fresh spine of acidity, ripe tannins, and a long, salty, and sanguine finish. It’s the most tense and coiled at this early stage of tasting and will take time to soften and fully open.”

2022 Tenuta di Arceno Il Fauno di Arcanum IGT Toscana
93 Points
“Dusty and cedary nose of dark berries, toasted spices and hints of dried herb. Dry and a little tight on the palate, with raw, chewy, tannins. Medium-bodied. I like the fruit concentration and succulent mid-palate, yet it needs a bit more time to integrate the tannins.”
