Bordeaux Varietal Wines from Renowned Winemaking Regions
We are delighted to include two limited-production wines in your September Vigneron Collection shipment: 2021 Anakota Helena Montana Cabernet Sauvignon and 2018 Tenuta di Arceno Arcanum IGT, both from Vigneron Pierre Seillan. Guided by his micro-cru philosophy, and drawing on more than 50 years of experience, Pierre has crafted each of these wines to express an extraordinary sense-of-place imparted by the terroirs of Knights Valley and Tuscany.
Knights Valley, Sonoma County 2021
The Anakota Helena Montana vineyard is planted to volcanic soils at an elevation of 950ft, on the rugged flanks of Mount St. Helena above Knights Valley. Vigneron Pierre Seillan interprets this unique site as being composed of many small blocks or micro-crus, according to soil, climate, exposure, and elevation, and vinifies them separately so that each may express its own distinctive voice. The 2014 Helena Montana is a powerful expression of red and black fruit, and spice, with fresh cedar, framed by muscular tannins, and refreshing acidity. The finish is very long, with flavors of bittersweet dark baking cocoa, candied fruit, and iron minerality.
Toscana, Italy 2018
Across the globe in Tuscany, Pierre and Winemaker Lawrence Cronin have crafted the same philosophy at Tenuta di Arceno. The 2018 Tenuta di Arceno Arcanum is a Cabernet Franc-led blend with grapes from the estate’s most complex and mineral-based expressions of this variety. Every year, Pierre and Lawrence handcraft each blend from different micro-crus, giving depth and architecture to wine. The 2018 vintage is expressive and elegant with aromatics and vibrant acidity. A true Tuscan expression of this IGT wine.
Tenuta di Arceno Arcanum Toscana IGT
“Lots of blackberries and walnuts on the nose with some violets. Full-bodied, yet lively and agile, with polished tannins that run across the palate and show class and focus. Bright and vivid...”
